Project Overview:

Girls Who Code provides online and in-person training in coding and technology for nonbinary and female-identifying individuals ages 8–22. The organization was pushing the boundaries in every area except for their branding. I was tasked with providing an alternate solution.

My solution aims to harness the power and potential of female-driven thinking, positioning the organization at the forefront of change. The logo is the organization's base code, made up of simplified, rectangular forms that act as the building blocks for the rest of the system.

The custom emoji set adds playfulness to the system, allowing users to express themselves in a fun manner. They work well across physical and digital applications, creating moments of delight and communicating a range of emotionality.

Representation is essential, particularly in a male-driven industry. Girls Who Code strives to recognize the work of extraordinary individuals who are changing the face of tech. Whether they are pioneers in the field, historical figures, or current members, the brand provides a platform to celebrate their accomplishments.

In order to test the flexibility of the system, I applied it across a range of mediums. Across each application, the key components of color, typography, and imagery work together to create a solution that is inspiring and exciting for both participants and partners.
